چکیده

Background The antitumoral efficacy of aqueous Viscum album extracts is attributed to the presence lectins and viscotoxins. However, previous studies demonstrated an activity European V. ethanolic homeopathic tinctures (VAHT) prepared according methodology. Aims To investigate seasonal influences (summer winter) in metabolomic profile ssp. mother evaluate some VAHT 3D tumor spheroid models. Methodology following were by maceration: growing on Malus domestica, Quercus sp. Ulmus sp.; austriacum from Pinus sylvestris; abietis Abies alba. Chemical analyses performed using liquid chromatography coupled high-resolution mass spectrometry. Data was submitted multivariate statistical analysis principal component (PCA) Partial Least Squares Discriminant Analysis (PLSDA) Metaboanalyst platform. antitumor potential (0.5% v/v) conducted models (MDA-MB-231 cell line) MTT for 72 hours. Analysis of gypsogenin saponins in homeopathic tinctures.

A relatively simple and short procedure for the quantitative determination of gypsogenin saponins was performed to evaluate homeopathic tinctures in which those compounds can be regarded as one of the active constituents. This method comprises partial hydrolysis of saponins, subsequent extraction of liberated prosaponin (gypsogenin 3-O-glucuronide) and its analysis by high performance liquid ch...

Antitumor and antibacterial activities of Viscum album L. grown on different host trees Farklı konakçı ağaçlarda yetişen Viscum album L.’nin antitümör ve antibakteriyel aktiviteleri

AIM: The present study aims to investigate for the first time antitumor and antibacterial activities of Viscum album L. grown on different host trees. METHODS: Two different bioassays (antitumor and antibacterial) were performed to evaluate the biological activities of European mistletoe (Viscum album L.) plants collected from 13 different host trees (Crataegus tanacetifolia, Crataegus monogyna...

Viscum album (L.) in experimental animal tumors: A meta-analysis

Mistletoe (Viscum album L.) has been used as complementary anticancer treatment for ~100 years. Although the clinical efficacy of mistletoe in cancer and associated survival benefits remain contested, several studies point to its effectiveness and others have reported antitumor and immunomodulatory properties. In the present review, a search was conducted for original articles reporting the out...

NMR structural determination of viscotoxin A3 from Viscum album L.

The high-resolution three-dimensional structure of the plant toxin viscotoxin A3, from Viscum album L., has been determined in solution by (1)H NMR spectroscopy at pH 3.6 and 12 degrees C (the structure has been deposited in the Protein Data Bank under the id. code 1ED0). Experimentally derived restraints including 734 interproton distances from nuclear Overhauser effect measurements, 22 hydrog...

Interaction of a standardized mistletoe (Viscum album) preparation with antitumor effects of Trastuzumab in vitro

BACKGROUND Besides conventional anticancer therapy many breast cancer patients use complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) like the medicinal herb mistletoe (Viscum album L.). To gain more knowledge about possible herb-drug interactions between CAM and conventional anticancer medications, in the present in vitro study we investigated the effect of a standardized mistletoe preparation on th...
